We are traveling to Disney World this evening with my 6 and 2 year old and our flight comes in at 8:30. Is Disney springs a family place to ring in the new year? I know there aren’t any fireworks. We are actually staying close to Disney springs for tonight

    Hi Kyla!

You're going to Walt Disney World Resort today!! I'm not at all jealous of your Disney plans for the first week of 2019. As the mom of a preschooler myself, having fun on New Years Eve is now about making sure our kids are welcome and won't get lost in too huge of a crowd, but also that we can easily retreat back "home" for the night should the kids be wiped from the other activities of their already busy day.

Disney Springs is indeed a very family-friendly location to spend the last evening of 2018. On a regular Monday night, most shops and dining locations do close around 11:00 P.M. However, most locations should be extending their hours to accommodate the not-so-noisy revelers. There will also be plenty of Disney-approved street style performers out and about, everything from jugglers to a roaming piano player to live music. Don't forget to check out the beautiful Christmas Tree Trail!

I do think that most Table-Service Dining Locations are already well booked up for the night. But there are plenty of Quick-Service Dining Locations serving all kinds of delicious dishes. Pro Tip: Try to dine as soon as you arrive just in case any of these do close on their normal schedule.

If you're up for a bit of traveling, from Disney Springs you can catch a Disney Bus to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, where you could grab dinner from the quick-service dining location Capt. Cooks and watch midnight fireworks from the Poly's private beach. Return bus service to Disney Springs will run until 1:00 A.M.

    Happy New Year, Kyla!
