We will be traveling to Disney world with our boys. Our 4yo has a few delays and sensory issues. Are there any accommodations the park provides? If so how do I make sure to receive these for my child. I'm very nervous about noise and wait times.

    Hi Jennifer,

My youngest LOVES Disney, but he can sometimes get overwhelmed at the theme parks. Not to fear! The Walt Disney World Resort offers many Services for Guests with Disabilities that will help.

My initial recommendation is to arrive at your first Disney Theme Park when it opens; then stop by Guest Relations to obtain a Disability Access Service Card (DAS) for your child. The DAS is issued to Guests with a wide variety of special needs, including delays and sensory issues. For an in-depth explanation about how it might help, please read the Disney Parks Disability Access Service Card Fact Sheet. Also keep in mind you can use the DAS in conjunction with FastPass+ too.

If he needs some down time, consider taking a break in a quieter area. For a complete list of locations please download the Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities. If your son can't tolerate loud noises such as fireworks, then ear plugs or noise canceling headphones will prove quite helpful.

If at all possible, do try to maintain the family's regularly scheduled meal times. At dining locations, be sure to alert Cast Members of your son's challenges. Explain that you would appreciate being seated in a quieter area of the restaurant. This will help ensure a magical vacation for the entire family.

Wishing your family a most memorable visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
