Hi, we are traveling to Disney for first time with a 5 yo & 1 yo, we booked dinner at Hollywood and Vine and have tickets for Fantasmic. We hear the show is great, but have heard there could be some scary parts, should I be concerned for our 1 yo?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Cynthia!

Traveling to Disney with kids is a whole new "world".  Its great seeing the magic through their eyes.

Fantasmic! is indeed a great show.  I've been taking my boys to see it since they were born and they've done fine.  I've heard some parents say that their kids were frightened so that is always a possibility.

Fantasmic! is held in a large outdoor amphitheater and lasts about 27 minutes. In the performance, all begins well until the Wicked Queen is upset and turns Mickey's imagination into a Nightmare Fantasmic! Thinking she has control of Mickey's mind, she invokes the help of some famous Disney villains. Of course in the end, Mickey prevails.

There are times the amphitheater is pretty dark. There is also a large snake and impressive ginormous dragon. The show features music, water effects, lasers and fireworks. If you sit near the front, you may get a little damp from the water spray. The fireworks are also a little loud which could startled your little one.

Fantasmic! is not all dark though. It also features a lot of upbeat Disney songs, princes and princesses and some incredibly beautiful floats.

You could watch the performance on YouTube to get an idea of it before your trip. Just make sure you're watching the one for Disney's Hollywood Studios as a couple of the other Disney Parks also have a version of Fantasmic! If after watching the video you still think there may possibly be an issue, you may want to consider sitting near the back of the amphitheater or on an aisle so if your little one becomes startled you can leave.

Please feel free to visit again with all of your planning questions.  We're hEAR to help!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
