We are traveling 2/24-3/7 and we can't decide if we need a rental car. We have never been to DW and there are 6 of us, including two toddlers and two older kids. Our resort is apparently only 2 miles from the Magic Kingdom. Are there a lot of trams/buses?

    Hi LaCrissia,

Your first Walt Disney World vacation is so exciting!!  It can also be kind of intimidating to plan.  There are so many details to consider - like, should you rent a car?

Are you staying at a Walt Disney World resort?  If so, you probably won't need to rent a car.  You'll be able to take Magical Express from the airport to your resort.  Once in Walt Disney World there are buses that travel from the resorts to the parks and to Downtown Disney.  Transportation is fairly simple.  Buses usually run every 15 minutes.  Strollers will need to be folded before boarding the bus, so I recommend traveling with a lightweight umbrella stroller that's easy to fold and fairly compact.

If you are staying at a resort off property, then I recommend renting a car.  You'll find it much more convenient - especially if you plan on returning to your room in the afternoon to rest.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!
