I would like to travel to Disney world around Dec 24-26 2014, but I heard that the crowds are bigger this time of year, and the parks are full. Is this true?

Hello Brandie.  Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

December 24-26 is a very busy time at Walt Disney World.  Guests travel from all over to be apart of the magic during the holiday season.  This past Christmas, my family and I spent the holiday at Walt Disney World and had a fabulous time.  The parks were very crowded but I feel like it is what you make of it.  We took advantage of using the Extra Magic Hours, only for Walt Disney World Resort Guests, and loved how empty the parks felt in the early morning.  We were able to ride several of our favorite attractions before the parks got much more crowded in the afternoon.  Knowing that the parks tend to fill up in the late morning/early afternoon, I reserved our FastPass+ times for the afternoon hours.  After a fun morning of riding our favorite rides and seeing characters at minimal wait times, we were then able to go back to our favorite attractions and ride those again.  It worked out really well.  On Christmas Day, December 25, Magic Kingdom does tend to fill up to capacity by about lunch time.  After a few hours, it has been my experience that the Park opens back up again to the public.

Visiting at Walt Disney World over the holiday in December is so magical.  I didn't let the rumor of the crowds stop us, and I am so glad.  We had one of the best trips we have ever had.  In fact, we are already planning our trip for those dates this year.

If you have any other questions about visiting Walt Disney World in December, please feel free to let me know.  Have a great day!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
