I was told the Royal Table was geared towards girls. I have 1 son who is 5 who wants to eat there. Any thoughts on this? I just want him to feel left out or uncomfortable?

The Royal Table is only "geared towards girls" in that the characters there are primarily female. Cinderella greets guests in the lobby of the restaurant at all three meals. At breakfast and lunch, there is a rotating list of princesses, leading ladies, and friends that appear in the dining room to go to each table, chat with guests, and pose for photos. Some typical characters that may appear are Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, Jasmine, etc. As you can see, these are all female characters. I have, on occasion, also seen Peter Pan, Prince Charming, and Aladdin at the Royal Table, but it has been some time since I've seen them. At dinner at the Royal Table, the princesses are gone. Instead, the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella's mice are in the dining room.

The majority of the guests in the dining room will be little girls and their families. However, there will still be plenty of boys: both the brothers in the families with girls, and families with only boys. I attended a meal at the Royal Table with family friends and their son, who was six at the time. He was given just as much attention as any of the girls in the room. He had watched all the Disney films, many of which obviously include princess characters. He enjoyed meeting the characters he had seen in the movies. I believe that all of the Moms on the Panel that have sons have dined at the Royal Table with them.

And, as an added bonus, boys who dine at the Royal Table set a souvenir (plastic) sword to take home. If your son wants to eat at the Royal Table, then you should feel 100% comfortable taking him there.
