We are going with our toddler and pre-schooler to disney in a week in may. what are your recommendations on what park we should do which day? thanks!

    Hi Lauren,

I'm a huge advocate of giving toddlers and preschoolers the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World. Their minds are like little sponges and all of the sensory experiences around the theme parks and resorts can actually enhance their cognitive development.

(Boy, I sounded really smart there for a second! Normally I'd say something like, "You should definitely bring your toddlers and preschoolers because they'll have a hoot!")

So, my suggestion would be to keep a relaxed schedule at first and let your children gravitate toward experiences, attractions, shows or anything else that grabs their attention.

(It kind of sounds like I'm suggesting for you to let them run wild, right!)

Actually, there's a method behind my madness. Some of my favorite memories with my children have come from spontaneous experiences that we didn't plan out. In other words, we may have stopped to catch a parade that was rolling by because we saw my son bee-bopping to the music or stopped to visit an attraction that caught my daughter's eye.

So, consider dividing your time evenly between each of the four theme parks so you can see the types of experiences that appeal to your children. After the first couple of days, you'll have a good sense for the types of attractions, shows, and other experiences to start gravitating toward.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Each of the four theme parks has a Baby Care Center, which are awesome for diaper changes. Plus, they also offer a number of supplies for sale (e.g. diapers, wipes, over-the-counter medications, etc.). These centers make it so much easier to tour the theme parks with little munchkins.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
