what are some tips for 1st time trip to disneyland

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Christine, you’re as welcome as can be to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

It looks like you may already be enjoying the Happiest Place on Earth, but just in case you’re still in the parks, I’d love to pass along some of my top tips for your first visit to the Disneyland Resort.

First, I recommend downloading the Disneyland app, which is my favorite handy helper in the theme parks. My family and I enjoy using the Disneyland app to check attraction wait times, make dining reservations, find favorite Characters, use Disney MaxPass and Disney PhotoPass, and mobile order food and drinks. The app is the best way to make the most of your time at the Disneyland Resort!

Speaking of MaxPass, I also recommend adding it to your park tickets, if you haven’t already. MaxPass allows you to make digital Disney FASTPASS selections from the convenience of your phone, which is a huge time-saver! MaxPass can be purchased on a daily basis once you’re inside the parks, using the Disneyland app. It also includes unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital downloads, which is a huge perk!

It’s also a good idea to make a few dining reservations ahead of time. I recommend making at least one Character Dining reservation. My family’s favorite spot is Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park, which takes place at Plaza Inn in Disneyland Park. This is the only Character Dining experience offered inside one of the theme parks. Enjoy a delicious all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet filled with Mickey waffles, French toast, scrambled eggs, made-to-order omelets and more, all while collecting autographs and adorable pictures with favorite Disney Characters. My other favorite dining destinations in Disneyland Park include Carnation Cafe, Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, Cafe Orleans, and Blue Bayou Restaurant.

In Disney California Adventure Park, my favorite spot is Wine Country Trattoria. The food and ambiance are lovely! Lamplight Lounge is another fun spot – the Pixar-themed decor is spot-on! Flo’s V8 Cafe is a great quick-service option with views of Radiator Springs Racers – which will help entertain little ones throughout your meal.

Last but not least, be sure to pick up complimentary “1st Visit!” buttons for first-time Guests! You can pick the buttons up in Disneyland Park at City Hall, or inside Disney California Adventure Park at the Chamber of Commerce.

I hope this information helps, Christine! Wishing you a magical first visit to the Disneyland Resort!

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 8, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
