    Keri from ME Asked

How much time should we plan to get from the Adventureland section in MK to the monorail and onto a 2:30 lunch reservation at Kona at Polynesian resort?

    Hey Keri-

I love your questions and welcome a challenge to get around the Magic Kingdom Resort Area. To quote Li Shang from Disney’s Mulan, “Let’s get down to business…”

Adventureland is the first spoke off the hub (central location to travel to the different lands) on the left hand side of the park. You should be able, depending on crowd levels, age, weather, parade or stage show and party size, to get from the furthest point in Adventureland to the Resort Monorail within 15 minutes. Be sure to get on the Resort Monorail and not the Express Monorail. The trip to Kona Cafe on the monorail should take you about 20 minutes (includes Monorail time and walking to the restaurant) as it needs to make stops at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center first. I would leave the Adventureland around 1:30 p.m. for travel to Kona Cafe. I loved my Kona Cafe grilled Ahi Tuna sandwich on the fresh pineapple bread. My taste buds went on a wild Hawaiian roller coaster ride of flavor. To recap, this plan should take you about 35-40 minutes with some time to spare.

Even though the monorail is a blast and the fastest, I find a voyage across the Seven Seas Lagoon more relaxing and unique. When you leave the Magic Kingdom Park, head toward the dock and board the water launch to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The trip is about 20 minutes and you will get a perspective of the lagoon and it’s associated resorts. Water taxi travel is my favorite transportation option and no trip is complete without it. You should leave Adventureland around the same time as you would for the monorail route. As a rule of thumb, plan on 60 minutes of travel time when traveling between resorts or theme parks.

I hope this helps you plan you day. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to pixie dust your trip.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories!
