Mom and daughter on Expedition Everest

Most of our time in the parks will be on a weekend... But we don't mind eating at off-times. And my daughter and I are both night-owls. In an average day, how do we avoid the crowds as much as possible?

    Hi, Kerry!

Since you are a night owl, you might not like my answer, but the best time to avoid crowds will be first thing in the morning.  If you can be at the parks a few minutes before the gates open, you will be amazed at how much you can see and do in just a few hours.  You can practically walk onto almost any attraction with little or no wait time during the early morning hours. If you go this route, you can be back at your resort by early afternoon for some pool time and even a nap. You can then head back to the parks for some nighttime fun!

But, since you are a night owl, let's plan around that!  This will not get you the smallest crowds, but might be the best option for you!  Sleep in, relax by the pool, then plan on an early dinner around 4:00 p.m.   Schedule your 3 allotted FastPass+ selections for 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 p.m.  You can then book an additional FastPass+ selection after using your third FastPass+.  You can keep on enjoying the parks until they close.  Animal Kingdom is usually the earliest park to close, while the Magic Kingdom sometimes keeps the magic going until super late.  (Check park hours for your travel dates to maximize your park time.)

I hope you try the morning hours at least one day, as I think you will enjoy the relaxed feel of the small crowds. Do what works best for your schedule, and your late-night ways!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
