    Sarah from NJ Asked

How much time would you allow for the Wildlife express train and then Rafiki's Planet Watch? We want to do Safari ride also so I'm trying to plan around lunch and fastpass. Thank you!!

Hi Sarah! I hope you will be able to head to Conservation Station and Rafiki's Planet Watch. It is a hidden secret of the Animal Kingdom park and so many guests don't take the time to visit this amazing place.

Generally the trains will begin at 9:30am even though the park opens at 9 on most days. Our trick is to make a FastPass time for Safari at 9/9:05am and be there as one of the first guests to ride. When you get off the Safari vehicle head over to the train station next door and again be one of the first guests to head to Rafiki's Planet Watch. If you miss a train there will be another one in only about ten minutes.

When you arrive there will be many things to do. Read about all the different things you can do at this location. Conservation Station.  One of my favorite things is to watch the park vet in action checking over a resident animal. They will explain what they are doing as they go along and often come out and talk with the guests. The children of course love to brush the sheep and goats. If you are really lucky you might catch the trainers putting them through some training exercises. There are also a few other special residents there to watch and photograph.

Inside there are exhibits and animal experts. There is usually one exotic animal on display and being tended to by a cast member. Children are invited to come and get an up close view. Sometimes it is an alligator, lizard, or perhaps a large spider. This is also a super place to meet and greet some characters and if you are there early in the day there will literally be no lines.

A rush visit could take 30 minutes but I prefer 45-60 minutes once we are there. If you give yourself an hour to an hour and a half that will include the train ride and keep you on schedule. Lines for the train later in the day will be quite long so the earlier you go the better.
