    What are E tickets

    Hi Don,

Thanks for stopping by with your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

A long time ago... In a galaxy far far away... When Disneyland first opened, admission price was just $1 for adults, however you had to pay additionally to ride on each attraction. They were designated with a letter, initially A, B and C, with the latter designation for the most popular attractions. Soon after, letter D was introduced and finally letter E came about after Disneyland's first expansion. And when Magic Kingdom opened in central Florida, the system was duplicated. Although these were sold as coupons either individually or in coupon books, most guests referred to them as tickets. The system was discontinued in the late 70s and replaced with unlimited access tickets.

Fast forward some 40 years, and the most popular attractions are still being informally referred to E Ticket attractions. The mountains of Magic Kingdom Park - Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the most recent addition, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, are the most popular attractions among guests. Toy Story Midway Mania!, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith are some of the top experiences at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park also has it's mountain with Expedition Everest, and Kilimanjaro Safaris joins in to the E Ticket list. And Rivers of Light, opening next month, will surely become one too. Epcot currently has Test Track among its most popular experiences, with Soarin' Around the World and Frozen Ever After coming in the summer of 2016.

My favorite? My passion for Star Wars takes me home to Star Tours - The Adventures Continue. Which one is yours?
