Mom And Son On Run

We have three girls 9,7, and 4. We are thinking of staying at the Riverside or the cabins at Fort Wilderness. Is Fort Wilderness too big for younger kids? It seems really spead out. Would you have other recommendations?

Not at all! I think Fort Wilderness is a wonderful resort, and you would find that your children really enjoy it.

The one thing I would very highly recommend, though, is that you rent a golf cart when staying here. You are correct that the resort is large and spread out, so that golf cart will come in very handy. You can use it to travel from your cabin to the restaurants, shops, playground, pool, and bus stop.

If you elect not to rent a golf cart, you can certainly still stay at this resort. You will simply need to plan on more walking, or allow a little extra time to use the internal bus system to take you to the places you'd like to go.

I also have three children so I understand the dilemma of limited options for a family of five. A couple of others you can consider are, as you mentioned, a room at Port Orleans - Riverside with a trundle bed, or a family suite at All-Star Music Resort (and opening in 2012, Disney's new Art of Animation resort)

You also have villa options, or deluxe resorts - Boardwalk, Beach Club, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Contemporary...but these do come with a significantly higher price tag.

If Fort Wilderness appeals to you, I encourage you to give it a try. It's a great resort and I think you will enjoy it!
