It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sarah!
This is definitely one of those million-dollar questions because everyone I know is trying to find that perfect time of year to visit Walt Disney World Resort when the weather is beautiful and the lines are short. I'll start by saying that there really isn't a bad time to go on a family vacation. I've been at the peak of summer when the all the kids are out of school and it's almost 100 degrees outside, and I've also been in the other months of the year when it's typically known to be a bit quieter and I'll tell you with complete confidence that I had fun every single time.
September is a great month of the year to travel, but just like any other month of the year, there are some things to consider to decide if it's right for you. First of all, there is a lot going on in the month of September!
Magic Kingdom Park will be decorated with gorgeous fall foliage for
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party which usually begins in August each year. It's my favorite time of year to go to
Epcot as well because it's the season for the
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival!
Global Marketplaces pop up all around the theme park to showcase exciting food and drinks from all around the world, so if you're a foodie like me you're going to love vacationing at this time of year.
You asked about the weather and September is still a summer month so come prepared with your shorts, t-shirts, and sunscreen. Rain is inevitable during the summer in Florida, so I also recommend packing your umbrellas or ponchos because there's likely to be a brief rain shower almost every day. The great news is that they are usually over as quickly as they start! As for crowd levels and mid-day
FastPass+ availability, it's tough to predict those kinds of things with any kind of certainty. I will say that if I was planning a vacation for myself and I wanted to visit when crowds are historically lower, September is one of the months I would consider! Kids have returned to school, so it's possible that there won't be as many guests in the theme parks as there are in the summer, giving you the opportunity to make more FastPass+ selections once you've used the ones you made in advance. If September is what works best for your family, then I think it's the perfect time to go!
Have a magical day, Sarah!
