We are thinking of going to WDW Dec 30 - Jan 5. Are the crowds any lower after Dec 31st? We will be a family of 5 with children 9, 8, & 8. We went in Oct on our last trip & want to know how the crowds compare? Thanks for all your great info on thi

I don't think you're going to be happy with what I'm about to tell you. The crowd levels you will experience during this December trip could be more than double what you had on an October trip. The two weeks on either side of Christmas are WDW's busiest time of year, while even the most crowded October day is only moderately busy.

The rule of thumb is that if school is not in session, then WDW is packed. Virtually the entire country (and most other countries) will have no school from about December 19 until January 5. (It's a long stretch this year because Christmas falls in the middle of the week.)  Your last day or two may be slightly less busy, as people begin to return home, but things won't really calm down until January 6.

There are still ways to have a great time at WDW during the holidays, but it does require more patience and planning than travel at other times of the year.
