We're thinking of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for our next trip to WDW. I've heard that the resort lighting at night is dim to allow for a natural environment for the animals. Are the pool hours shorter than other resorts as a result?

While there is no quiet pool at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (AKL), the Uzima (meaning clear water) pool is usually open 24 hours. The lifeguards close the slide at 10 p.m. and then they go off-duty. There are 2 eighteen-person hot tubs which close at midnight. Note that all hours are subject to change and may differ during different seasons.

We really enjoyed the zero-depth entry, heated pool at AKL. There is a children’s wading pool and the Hakuna Matata playground nearby. I find the pool area very relaxing with a flowing spring nearby. This is a large free-form pool so you won‘t feel overcrowded by other guests. For your convenience, towels (and lots of lounge chairs) are provided at the pool. The nearby Uzima Springs Watering Hole offers up specialty drinks and other beverages to quench your thirst. You can walk to the Uzima Overlook to watch animals on the savanna.  At night, the spas feel secluded away from the resort’s activities. The pool area is softly lit but quite beautiful in the evening.

    No worries!
