We are thinking of planning a trip in Oct. 2010. We have 3 kids they will be 14, 12 and 3 at time of trav.. Should we stay at the ASM family suite or PO Riverside? Or is it best to get adjoining rooms in a value resort?

    Dana:

It's a tough call between Port Orleans and the family suites at All-Star Music, and I would eliminate two adjoining rooms as you'll get the same space with the suite PLUS the kitchenette (and you're not guaranteed to have the rooms adjoin)....

The most economical way to go is with the room at Port Orleans Riverside that will sleep 5 using the trundle for your 3-year-old.  It has more of a resort feel than the motor court ambiance of the All-Stars.  And with its boat to Downtown Disney, simply offers a lot of bang for the buck.  Of the three sections of Port Orleans, Riverside is the one where I don't think a water view is worth the money, so you can really save a few dollars with a standard room.  We took three of our children when they were 6, 8, and 10 and made out wonderfully.

The leg up with the All-Star Suites is not only its large living area and private bedroom, but also its two bathrooms (a plus if you have primping girls or stinky boys) and a kitchenette.  Although POR offers a refrigerator, too, the microwave with the suite can help you save some money and help bridge the gap in the difference in cost if you want to get creative with a meal or two (like microwavable lasagna).

If cost is not an issue, I'd go with the All-Star Suites.  If you're trying to get every bit of value out of your dime: Port Orleans Riverside.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
