Thinking about Fast Pass selections. I’m wondering if you suggest doing morning passes and trusting luck for later in the day, or doing afternoon passes and hoping lines will be shorter in the morning if we get in when the park opens. Thanks!

    Hi Laura,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Fast Pass+ has changed the way we map out our vacations. It makes planning so much easier and saves us hours of time in line for rides!

I suggest making your initial three Fast Pass+ selections for the morning. We love to do a pre-park opening breakfast reservation, then our first Fast Pass+ from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and others immediately afterwards. After we have done those first three Fast Pass+ selections, we eat lunch in the park then, we will make our fourth "rolling" Fast Pass+ selection. It is referred to as a "Rolling Fast Pass+" because once you do that one and/or the time window has expired, you can make another Fast Pass+ selection.

Although we will occasionally do afternoon Fast Pass+ selections, on our last visit, we had a 2:00 p.m. Fast Pass+ for Splash Mountain but the ride was closed at that time. We had a list of other Fast Pass+ options we could have done, but we wanted to ride Splash Mountain. We actually went to Epcot then came back to ride Splash Mountain but it completely changed our plans for that afternoon and we almost missed a dinner reservation!

Do consider a pre-park opening breakfast reservation. On our last visit, we did an 8:10 a.m. reservation at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. We enjoyed walking through Epcot while it was almost deserted and, after breakfast, we were able to ride Frozen Ever After. The stand-by line was just 10 minutes!

Laura, you know your family best. If they are not early risers, this plan may not work for them. I have discovered, however, that the excitement of Walt Disney World gets us up and out early. Remember to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for exciting updates at the theme parks, resort hotels and Disney Springs!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
