Thinking about doing an Alaskan cruise next summer...other than the price, which advantages/disadvantages are there for different times. Is late August or early September much colder?

    Ahoy, Kelly!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I've been fortunate enough to explore the Last Frontier with Disney Cruise Line twice, so I'm happy to share my experiences with you. My two cruises were late June/early July and late August/early September. Weather in Alaska is very unpredictable so it's hard to say what you'll experience next summer. On both sailings, we had some warm days (70s and even low 80s) and some cooler days (50s and 60s). They predict warmer temperatures in June and July, but it's smart to be prepared for a range of temperatures. The best advice I can give you is to check the weather a few days prior to your departure, plan on wearing layers and have a waterproof outer layer in case of rain. If you decide to cruise mid-summer (July), you have a better chance to see bears and the salmon running. The days with the longest daylight are in June and July. I loved coming outside after our second seating dinner around 10:00 p.m. to enjoy a stunning Alaskan sunset!
I saw plenty of wildlife on both sailings, and many times right off the side of the ship! I purchased a nice DSLR camera just for the trip and found it hard to put down because of all the amazing photo opportunities. The pictures definitely did not do the scenery justice, but I tried my best to capture all that I could.
It is a "Wonder"ful time to cast off on an Alaskan adventure on the Disney Wonder since it just came out of dry dock. The re-imagination looks spectacular so it will make your Alaskan sailing in 2017 even more magical!
Please let me know if you have any follow-up questions, Kelly. I'm always happy to help!
    Have a fabulous day!
