We were thinking of a cruise in Jan or Feb 2011. It is myself, DH, DD 9 and DD 4. We have never been on a cruise. Is this a good time to try it and which one do you recommend? We go to WDW every year and want to try something new.

    Hi Deborah,

I'm so excited that you are considering a Disney Cruise.  Since you are a seasoned Walt Disney World vacationer, you already know what you can expect for service and style - but I will honestly tell you that the cruise is a WDW vacation kicked up a notch!

What I love about a Disney Cruise is that it immerses you in the service and style you should expect from Disney, with the comfort and serenity of your stateroom just moments away.  It is the perfect way to take in all of the fun and excitement that you want together as a family - or custom carve out your days based on the likes and interests of everyone.

Overall even the busiest of cruisers have a relaxed vacation because there are no bus/boat/monorail schedules to contend with, no hour commutes to arrive at your dining destination.  There is no pressure to participate in the activities, but yet everything is convenient and accessible which makes those last-minute decisions feasible.  Also, as silly as it sounds, two of my favorite things about the cruise is having my beds made and turned down each day, and wonderful variety of fresh foods always available - without the dishes or preparation on my part.  The simple pleasures of a mom.

Personally, I think any month is a great time to cruise.  However just be aware that temperatures can vary greatly during this time of year.  If heat and beach weather is imperative I would opt to go as late into February as possible.  For a first time cruiser I always suggest a 4 or 5-night voyage.  This is a cost effective way to "test the waters" to see if cruising is for your family.

    Good luck with your decision!
