We're thinking about coming to Disney either Thanksgiving week or the week before Christmas, which would be less crowded? Also, we will have a party of 9/10 (3/4 adults & 6 kids), what are options as far as places to stay in 1 rm or adjoining rm w/ kit

    Hi Terri,

Walt Disney World during the holidays is extra magical! You have all of the traditional magical with the added holiday magic.

Thanksgiving week will be more crowded than the week before Christmas. Thanksgiving is popular because everyone has the same week off and it starts the holiday season. The week before Christmas will be less crowded because school breaks are more staggered. Both will be crowded so remember to book all Advance Dining Reservations and FastPass+ as soon as they are bookable.

As for where to stay, if you are looking for all nine or ten to stay together, a villa would be the best option. You would have enough beds for everyone and then a full kitchen, extra bath and a washer/dryer unit. I love having a washer/dryer because I can take less clothes on the trip and save on airline baggage fees.

If you want individual families together, you can do family suites at Art of Animation or All-Star Music. You would have separate sleeping space, kitchenette and two bathrooms.

For either option, you can offset the cost of the larger room by ordering from an online grocer like Garden Grocer for breakfast items, snacks, water and drinks. This will save you at least the cost of breakfast which you can use to pay for the room.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
