What are some things to do at Christmas time at Disney, other than the parks?

The parks certainly feature a plethora of holiday events and entertainment that I wouldn't want to miss, but rest assured, there is more festive fun to be had throughout the resort.  The first thing that comes to mind is the gorgeous holiday decorations that adorn each of the resort hotels.  If you've never had the opportunity to visit WDW during the holidays, you'll want to be sure to set aside time to tour the resorts.  The Beach Club Resort features a beautiful carousel made of gingerbread while the Polynesian is home to a gingerbread version of Santa's workshop.  Each of the resorts have themed trees and garlands that, in true Disney style, portray the season as it relates to the individual resort.  At the Animal Kingdom Lodge, for instance, wild animal ornaments and African-inspired masks decorate the massive tree in the lobby.  Each of the resorts offers something unique; a self-guided tour would be well worth your time.  Whatever you do though, don't skip the Grand Floridian.  Disney's flagship resort is widely considered the most impressive when it comes to holiday decor.

If you are looking to conquer that holiday shopping list you could head to Downtown Disney for Festival of the Seasons.  Downtown Disney is decorated for the season and while  you're there you could stop in and have a picture taken with Santa.

For more information on what Disney has to offer during the holiday season, be sure to check out the holiday page.  You might also check your local listings for Samantha Brown's Disney holiday special.  It typically airs as the season gets closer.
