Hello There! I am wondering if it is best to purchase now (one month in advance), or when we actually arrive? Does the year begin at time of purchase, or upon entering the park with my passport? Also does it reduce Disney Hotel rates at all? Thx! Monica

    Hey Monica!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We’re so glad you brought another question to us here at the panel.

It sounds like someone is planning to join the Annual Passport family! I couldn’t think of a better time than now, to become an Annual Passholder. There are so many wonderful benefits of becoming an Annual Passholder. At times, that does include discounts for the three hotels at the Disneyland Resort. Check out the current promotions available just for Annual Passholders at one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels. A lot of people don’t know this, but at times there are also exclusive discounts for Annual Passholders at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa. They’ve got a great deal going on right now and you may find yourself as a new Annual Passholder planning a trip out to Hawaii!

Buying your Annual Passport in advance will depend on which Passport you plan on buying. If you are buying the Flex Passport, then I recommend buying it the day of your visit at one of the Ticket Booths in the Esplanade. If it is a “Reservation Required” day and reservations are no longer available, a Cast Member will be able to set you up to enter the parks that day. The reason I recommend doing it this way for a Flex Passport is because the Flex Passport timeline starts either on your first entry to the parks or when you first make a reservation. So if you purchased it today and made a reservation three weeks from today, your timeline would start before you even set foot into the parks. For any other pass I recommend buying it ahead of time and then activating on the day you plan on going. This is important if you’re trying to secure a Boarding Pass for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. You won’t have to wait in line at one of the ticket booths to make sure you get into Disneyland Park before official opening time.

Well Monica, before you know it you’ll be jumping from attraction to attraction like a pro! You’re going to love being an Annual Passholder.

Remember, always believe in the magic!
