Hi There Does Disneyland use Magic Bands? thank you

Hi there, Karen, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Your Disneyland Resort vacation will be here before you know it, and I couldn’t be more excited for you! So, let’s start planning!

Unlike at Walt Disney World Resort, the Disneyland Resort doesn’t use MagicBands. Instead, the Disneyland Resort uses the Disneyland app and Disney MaxPass as the main tools you’ll need to navigate the parks. So, you can choose to simply use your paper tickets to enter the parks and access Disney FASTPASS selections, or, you can scan your tickets to the Disneyland app, and use Disney MaxPass to make your digital FASTPASS selections. You can also use the app to make dining reservations, check attraction wait times, mobile order food, and use Disney PhotoPass.

Downloading the Disneyland app is free, but there is a daily fee to add DisneyMaxPass to your theme-park ticket. I highly recommend adding it – Disney MaxPass is such a time-saver! MaxPass allows you to make digital FASTPASS selections directly from your phone, via the Disneyland app. If you happen to have a Park Hopper ticket, you can even make a FASTPASS selection from one park while you’re in the other, and vice versa! So, MaxPass provides the added convenience of skipping FASTPASS distribution points, and handling your FASTPASS schedule on your phone, instead.

After downloading the Disneyland app, you’ll need to upload your theme-park tickets to it. Here’s how it works: Add your tickets by going to “My Tickets”, then pressing the “+” sign in the upper right corner. Next, press “Link Tickets & Passes” and scan the barcode for the ticket, or enter the ID number manually. Press “Submit”, and you’re good to go!

You won't need to worry about adding MaxPass to your ticket until you've arrived at the Disneyland Resort theme parks. Once you enter either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, you can add Disney MaxPass to your tickets on a daily basis by using the Disneyland app. From the Home screen, look for the “+” sign at the bottom of the screen. Tap that, then select “Get FASTPASS with Disney MaxPass.” Select which tickets you’d like to add MaxPass too, then complete your transaction. It’s as easy as that!

Another great perk of MaxPass is receiving unlimited digital downloads of your Disney PhotoPass pictures! This is a wonderful way to preserve your memories, and make sure everyone in your group gets it in the picture!

Last but not least, here's the Entertainment Schedule for your arrival date, so you can start mapping out the magic now.

I hope this helps you, Karen! Please stop by with any additional planning questions you may have… I’m all EARs!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 8, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!
