Thanks for your response! I have ordered the book. We r thinking of going in Jan - but we are flexible. This is a once in a lifetime trip for us so want to go when lineups aren't too bad. Thinking we need 2 weeks? All of DW and universal and some downtime

    Hi Kate!

Thank you for sending me this question directly.  I really appreciate it.

I would definitely look at the crowd calendar that is available via the independent website TouringPlans.com.  I mentioned this in your previous question.

I can tell you that my family usually visits in January and February and we love it.  It is not as nice as visiting during the first two weeks of December (our favorite time to visit, but difficult to do these days with an older child in school) because in early December the crowds are relatively low and the parks and resorts are beautifully decorated for the holidays.  However, January and February are still nice.

The crowds in January and February are pretty low except during Marathon Weekend in January, Martin Luther King Junior Weekend in January, and President's Day Weekend in February.  The weather is usually nice; one year is was really cold in January, but typically you can wear just a shirt during the day and a light coat at night.  The water parks and the main pools at the Disney resorts are heated so you can even swim in January and February.

In terms of the amount of time "needed", there is a lot to do at Walt Disney World.  It is roughly the size of San Francisco or twice the size of Manhattan Island in New York City.  It is impossible to do it all; I have been over a 100 times and still have not done everything.  However, I think you can see the majority of Walt Disney World in a week; that includes two days for the Magic Kingdom and two days for Epcot.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
