Thanks for your reply to my question. How busy is Disney during the Marathon - the end of our trip will be then. Also, I see you like Wilderness Lodge and we are thinking of that - how crowded is the boat? What ticket package and yes or no on dining?

    Hi Kristin!

Thank you for sending me this question directly.  I really appreciate it!

Marathon Weekend is a busy time at Walt Disney World, but not busy like the summer months and definitely not extremely packed like the various holidays throughout the year.  Also, the crowds are typically only in the parks on Saturday and Sunday.  The Friday before and the Monday afterward are typically low crowd days in the parks.  If you are already planning on coming at that time, I wouldn't change your trip just because of Marathon Weekend.  If you want to miss most of the crowds, just don't go to the Magic Kingdom on Saturday or Sunday; Epcot would be a great alternative on those days.

The Wilderness Lodge is fabulous!  The boat that runs between the Wilderness Lodge and the Magic Kingdom is typically not crowded at all.  The only exception is if you are there when the park closes when everybody is trying to get back at the same time.

The boat that runs from the Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness and the Contemporary Resort is also not typically crowded except when there are a lot of guests headed over to dinner at the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue.  Even then, you just might have to wait for a second boat.  Boats typically run about every twenty minutes on Bay Lake.

I would be happy to help you with your question about tickets.  Our responses are limited in length, so I can touch on it here. Write back with how many days you will be at Walt Disney World and whether or not you think you might want to visit one of the water parks.  It can be cool and even cold in January, but the main pools and the water parks are heated.  Also, when you write back tell me if you are interested in dining at a lot of Table Service (full service) restaurants.  I'll look for your next question!
