I am so thankful you all are here!!! I am a single mother of a 5 year old daughter. We are palnning 1st trip to Disney. I need to know what would be a must see for a 5 year old! This can be so much to take in. Thank You for your help!!

    Hi Whitney:

I'm a parent of two boys, ages 5 and 3, and I would love to share some of my family's must-dos for our Disney World vacations.

Among many other things: at the Magic Kingdom, we always ride the Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Mickey's PhilharMagic, The Haunted Mansion, and it's a small world. At Epcot, we take in Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Soarin', and tour the countries of World Showcase. Highlights of World Showcase are the Kidcot Fun Stops, which are craft stations where your children can draw and color while learning about different cultures as they interact with Cast Members from around the world. Our must-dos at Hollywood Studios include Toy Story Mania and Muppet Vision 3-D. At Animal Kingdom, our family always rides the Kilimanjaro Safari and hops aboard the Wildlife Express Train and visits Rafiki's Planet Watch area, Affection Section, and Conservation Station.  Check out the Magical Beginnings guide for tips and locations of rides and attractions suitable for kids five and under at all four Disney World theme parks.

Your daughter may be interested in a Princess make-over at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or a character meal at Cinderella's Royal Table or at Chef Mickeys.

As you enter the parks, pick up a Times Guide for parades and show schedules throughout the day. Since it's a first visit, check in at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom, or at guest relations at other parks, and pick up "first-visit" buttons. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to greet you and your daughter with a kind gesture.

My best advice is to relax, follow your daughter's pace, and enjoy.
