Thank you for all of your help so far. My son LOVES Dumbo, but I see that the Dumbo ride in MK will be closed for renovations during our visit. Is there somewhere in WDW where we can meet Dumbo or see him featured, maybe in a parade or a gift shop? Thanks!

    Hi Nicole,

I understand how disappointing it can be when a favorite attraction is not operating. You are correct that the Dumbo ride will be briefly out of service this winter while it is moved to a new location in Fantasyland. The overall good news is that when Fantasyland reopens, there will actually be TWO Dumbo rides at the Magic Kingdom, side by side. But I know that doesn't help you right now.

There is no Dumbo character meet & greet. You can, however, often find Dumbo merchandise in the theme park gift shops. I was at Walt Disney World last weekend and saw several different versions of plush Dumbo toys.

As an alternative to the Dumbo ride experience, you may want to try the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride at the Magic Kingdom or the TriceratopSpin ride at the Animal Kingdom. Both of these have the same gentle "up and around" feel that Dumbo does.

There are also attractions which feature other elephants. You can find audioanimatronic elephants bathing in the Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom. You can also show your son REAL live elephants on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at the Animal Kingdom. There have been several baby elephants born at the Animal Kingdom in recent years. You may be able to spot one of the babies on the savanna.

Good luck with your planning and please let us know if we can be of additional help.
