Could you tell me the expected bus travel times from Port Orleans Riverside to each of the four theme parks and from Wilderness Lodge to each of the four theme parks, please?

    Hi Jessica,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You are considering two fabulous Walt Disney World resorts for your vacation this fall.

Both resorts you mentioned are served by Walt Disney World buses to all four theme parks, the water parks and Disney Springs. Travel times can vary, based on traffic and weather conditions, but I'll try to give you a good estimate of what you can expect.

Wilderness Lodge has a single bus station. Once a bus leaves Wilderness Lodge, it should take you just about 10 minutes to reach Magic Kingdom, 10 to 15 minutes to Epcot and 15 to 20 minutes to Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom. Buses arrive about every 20 minutes, and each can carry dozens of guests.

For Magic Kingdom, you also can choose a water taxi from the dock at Wilderness Lodge. The journey past the Contemporary Resort to the theme park passes pretty scenery, and your captain often will offer bits of Disney history along the way. However, it will take longer. The journey is 15 to 20 minutes and, because the boats have limited capacity, you may need to wait longer for your transport.

Travel times by bus to all the parks are similar from the Port Orleans Riverside exit, which is a little closer to Epcot than Magic Kingdom. One difference: Port Orleans Riverside has four bus stops within the resort, compared to the single stop at Wilderness Lodge. So, if you board at one of the first stations, you will spend a few minutes picking up other guests before you exit the resort. Port Orleans doesn't offer water transport to any of the theme parks, but it does have water taxi service to Disney Springs.

We usually allow an hour for transportation, no matter what our starting point or destination so that we don't feel rushed or stressed about missing a dining reservation or FastPass+. Vacation is for relaxing, after all.

No matter which resort you choose, Jessica, you will be visiting Walt Disney World at a great time. The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing, and so will the spooktacular fun of Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you as you make your plan. Enjoy!
