Hi can u tell me what exactly they will do for u at guest services at Disney world for a child with type 1

    Hi Elizabeth,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As the resident Doctor of the group, I thought it fitting that I answer your question! Walt Disney World is committed to providing all Guests with an excellent experience, including those with special medical needs. As a result, several accommodations are available for your kiddo.

First, food! The menus for the restaurants are available online. Take a moment to peruse and preplan your meals so that when you are tired and hungry, no one needs to think! If you have a special dietary request, more likely than not, the chefs can accommodate. My husband is anaphylactic to shellfish, we always note it on our reservation and then speak to our server on arrival. Often, a chef shows up at our table to discuss the menu with him. Disney goes above and beyond to help keep Guests safe!

Next, medication. As a Type 1 Diabetic, I am assuming your it-bit is on insulin. Almost all the rooms in the Resort Hotels have mini fridges in them, but please call your hotel before arrival to make sure that there is one in your room. Also, if you need your luggage with medication stored, alert Bell Services, they have refrigerators available.

Third - waiting in long lines might not be ideal. Make sure to bring extra supplies into the Parks as sugars tend to fluctuate in the heat! My fellow panelist Desi explains here how the Disability Access Service allows you to return to an attraction at a given time rather than waiting in line. Just another way where Disney accommodates its Guests.

Elizabeth, I hope this eased your concerns, chEARs to this vacation being just what the doctor ordered!
