Hello. Can you tell me if Disney World is typically more crowded in May or June? Is it a noticeable difference? Thanks so much!!  :)

    Hi Amy!

Truth be told, I'm not a crowd person. I like to plan our Disney trips when the weather is cool and the crowds are low. Of course, that's not always possible, but when it is - my family is at Walt Disney World Resort!

From all the information I can gather, and from my own personal experience, it seems that Walt Disney World crowds are larger in June than in May. May is a month full of final exams, graduations, dance recitals, and basically end-of-year everything for families with kids in school. I know our family is booked solid during the month of May - it sometimes seems busier than any other month of the year! June finds bigger crowds simply due to the fact that most schools are out for summer break.

I checked several websites with Disney World crowd calendars for 2017. Light crowd levels are predicted for the middle two weeks of May, with larger crowds expected closer to the end of the month and reaching peak levels after the first week of June. Memorial Day Weekend falls on the last weekend of May, which typically draws big crowds to the Walt Disney World theme parks.

If you're planning to stay on property, you'll be able to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. During Extra Magic Hours, guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels get to spend extra time in the theme parks before opening and after closing! It's amazing how much we can see and do during those hours, so we make the most of them! It's also important to make Advance Dining Reservations for meals and use FastPass+ to reserve ride times for your favorite attractions. By planning a bit ahead of time, you can breeze through your day even when it may be crowded.

I hope this helps with your planning. Have a magical day, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! - Diane W.
