Can you tell me; am I crazy for taking my 19 month old to MNSSHP? The castmember i spoke with didn't seem so sure about it. Are there things she'll enjoy? Also, any tried and true tips for keeping a toddler up late with minimal fussiness for the event?

Not crazy at all! I've been taking my own daughters since they were newborns and we have never had a problem. A few tips:

    • If your child still sleeps during the day, then encourage a late and long nap so that she will be well rested for the big night.
    • Choose a costume that is comfortable. Something cool so she won't overheat, and comfortable so she can fall asleep in it (which is likely!)
    • Take your own stroller. Besides being far cheaper than the park rentals, they are also more comfortable for sleeping in (see above).
    • Entertainment! Take along some glow sticks, get her face painted, hot those trick or treat lines, and yes, give her some candy! The extra fun stuff will make her want to stay awake so she won't miss a thing!
    • Rider swap. If you're traveling with more than just the two of you, take advantage of the swap option even after she falls asleep, so that the rest of you can still enjoy the shorter ride lines.
When your child is under 3 years old they receive free admission, which is a huge benefit. Take advantage of the savings and have a great night!
