My teenager just broke his arm. We will be arriving at disney in 3 weeks? Suggestions?

    Hi Sherrie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that your son broke his arm just weeks before his magical vacation to Walt Disney World. I know he must be so bummed, but even with a broken arm, he'll still have the opportunity to have an amazing time on vacation!

My first suggestion, if you haven't done so already, is to speak with his physician regarding any restrictions he/she has on your son while on vacation. Walt Disney World Resort has many attractions with varying degrees of thrill levels. For example, your son's doctor may recommend he stay away from attractions involving water while his arm is in a cast. If you've received the recommendations from your son's doctor, but find yourself in one of the four theme parks with questions about a certain attraction, speak to the Cast Member near the entrance of the attraction! They will be happy to answer any questions regarding the intensity and seating of the attraction's vehicle with you.

Your son might get very warm walking around Walt Disney World with a cast on his arm. I recommend making air conditioned stops throughout the day to give him a break from the heat and weight of his cast! For example, you may want to visit Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room on your way to (or from) Pirates of the Caribbean.

Lastly, it rains quite often in Florida at this time of year. You may want to bring a plastic bag along with you in your day bag to wrap your son's cast in a hurry if an afternoon thunderstorm appears out of the blue. Those rainstorms can be sneaky at times!

Sherrie, I know this isn't how your family, especially your son, envisioned your upcoming Disney vacation. I'm wishing you a vacation filled with laughter, memories and pixie dust!
