    Mary from FL Asked

Our teenage granddaughter wants to go to a water park. Which one would you recommend? She is 16. Is there anything for grandparents to do there? We are in our 70's. Young at heart but not in body.

Hi Mary!  This is a tough call to pick one water park over the other.  Both have great water rides and something fun for all ages.

I love Blizzard Beach where you can fly straight down a chute or two or float on a tube down a lazy river that takes at least 20 minutes. The wave pool is not as "active" here as it is at Typhoon Lagoon and the swimming with the sharks is a big draw for the Lagoon park.  But Blizzard Beach has more that might interest you all such as the Lazy river and the Family Raft ride.  As you can see...tough choice as both are wonderful. Click HERE to review the attractions at both parks.

The ideal thing for you to do where everyone can enjoy a day at the water park is for you to rent one of the private cabanas.  They are called Polar Patios at Blizzard Beach and Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon.  They are covered areas with chairs or loungers for up to six persons and include ice chest with water, safe, towels, and all day drink mugs. They run about $250 for a full day and it is a perk that can make a day in the hot sun actually something you will want to do again and again no matter what your interests are.  Your cabana cast member will even  take your order for lunch and deliver it to the cabana so you are not standing in line!  A little pampering goes a long way to justify the expense!  You can see a photo and read a short description about each park's cabanas by clicking HERE.

Have fun with this special day with your granddaughter!
