Hi Tanya! I read that you just returned from CBR and we are thinking of staying there in June. Which island do you recommend (standard room/view)? Children are 7 (girl) & 9 (boy-Autism). 3rd trip to WDW, so we know how much walking will be involved

    Hi there JoCarole!

Thanks so much for writing!  My son is on the spectrum too.  I'm betting you know this already since you are a Disney veteran, but,  if your pirate's disability makes waiting in long lines tough for him, be sure to request a Guest Assistance Card at Guest Relations at whichever park you visit first.  This will enable your family to use a less-crowded entrance on most attractions, and minimize wait times.

We absolutely LOVED Caribbean Beach Resort.  There are nine pools at the resort, and one within a short walk of just about every building.  We stayed in a standard-view room in Barbados, and thought it was lovely.  The walk to the bus stop was less than thirty seconds from our room, Customs House (where you check in) was about a one minute walk away, and Old Port Royale (the area that houses the main food court, pirate pool, gift shop and table service restaurant) was about a seven or eight minute walk away.  My kids don't mind walking, so this location worked out well.  If you are interested in a standard-view room that is closer to Old Port Royale, you can absolutely request one at check-in.  We could have had a closer room, however, the one in Barbados was ready when we checked-in early in the day, and we opted for this.  There are some buildings with standard pricing that are located in the villages of Jamaica and Aruba that are reasonably close to Old Port Royal (buildings 44, 45,46, 51, 52 and 53) that you might prefer for proximity.

I'm guessing your family will enjoy Caribbean Beach Resort as much as we did!  I hope both of your kids have a Disney trip as magical as they are!
