I will be taking my 4yr son to disney for his 5th bday, this will be the first trip for us both. How do the character dinners go? What is the best attraction for a 4yr old? What is the best hotel for a family of 5, that is centrally located?

    Hi Devona!

You're planning your first Walt Disney World vacation! Be sure to pick up First Visit buttons when you check in to wear during the entire trip!

Disney Character Dining is such great fun. At each location, the characters rotate around the restaurant so that each one will spend time at your table. You'll have time to pose for photos and get autographs from each one. For a 4 year old boy, my top recommendations for character dining that would appeal to his age would include Hollywood & Vine breakfast buffet with Disney Junior characters for Play 'n' Dine, Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort for a great buffet at any meal time of the day with Mickey & friends, 'Ohana in the Polynesian Resort for family-style breakfast with Mickey, Lilo & Stitch, or Cape May for buffet breakfast with Goofy, Donald & Minnie. They are all great fun & great food!

Best attractions for a 4 year old ... well ... at Magic Kingdom, all the classic attractions will surely appeal to your little man. A new attraction to try out is the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game. At Hollywood Studios, be sure to check out Lights, Motors, Action! stunt car show featuring Lightning McQueen. If he's into Star Wars, sign up early in the day for a spot in the Jedi Training Academy. Over at Epcot, The Seas with Nemo & Friends has plenty of fun for his age as well as Kidcot Fun Stops around the World Showcase Lagoon's Countries' pavilions. Over at Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris is a must-do, he'll love visiting Dinoland USA and The Boneyard as well as a visit to the Affection Section petting zoo.

For a family of 5, depending on your budget, my top picks for a centrally located resort would include Port Orleans Riverside at the Moderate level, The Polynesian at the Deluxe level, or the Fort Wilderness Cabins.

Wishing you a Magical time as you plan for your vacation Devona!
