Hi! Taking a 3 year old to parks and wanting to take in a cooler for him. What kind of foods, drinks, snacks can I take into park inside my cooler? Anything that wouldnt be allowed? Thanks!

    Hi Amy,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. Snacks are a very important part of a Walt Disney World vacation, and I love that you are planning ahead to be sure everyone is fed and happy during your magical visit! To be honest, my park backpack is like Mary Poppins's bag when it comes to snacks...I can keep them appearing all day long.

My family always brings a cooler of snacks into the Walt Disney World theme parks; it’s easy to stash it under the stroller so it's out of the way but there when you need it. Be sure that your cooler complies with the Park Rules: it must be no larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” long, and it is subject to search upon each park entry. You may not bring alcoholic beverages or any glass containers into the parks, and plastic straws are not allowed in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the safety of the animals. My son lives on cheese sticks, so we bring plenty of those along with frozen yogurt tubes, grapes and cut up fruit and veggies in the cooler, and we bring a stash of crackers, pretzels, and other goodies in our park backpack. We use plastic containers instead of baggies so our items don’t get crushed, but we bring a few extra Ziplocks in our backpack, because they are great for wet clothing or things like lollipops or other treats that don’t get finished. It’s wonderful to find a shady spot for a rest and a snack during a busy park day!

Amy, be sure to save room for some classic Walt Disney World treats like my favorite Dole Whip or the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar. Spots like the Main Street Confectionery in Magic Kingdom Park are overflowing with delicious and Mickey-shaped treats that add just a little extra magic to your special visit. On my recent trip, I discovered the chocolate-covered pineapple spear – best day ever!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,

    Robyn
