We are taking a wild 22 month old to Disney in 2 weeks! I can't decide what parks we should go to. We have a 4 day park pass no park hopper. I assume we will need 2 days at Magic Kingdom. What other 2 parks do you suggest? Anything special going on July 4?

    Hi Ashley!

I'm a huge advocate of giving toddlers the opportunity to experience Walt Disney World, so I'm happy to hear about your upcoming vacation.

Obviously, the Magic Kingdom has so much to offer toddlers in terms of sensory experiences. Your two days there will be an amazing time.

As for your other days, I'll throw out two ideas that are based on my own personal experience with taking toddlers to Walt Disney World:

One of your days should definitely be spent at Disney's Animal Kingdom. In addition to the age-appropriate attractions, exhibits, and shows, your child will really get a kick out of the spontaneous experiences you'll encounter along the way. For example, cast members can be found around the park with various species of insects and animals for guests to interact with.

My second suggestion would be to visit Epcot. On the surface, Epcot might seem to be geared toward older guests. In fact, I think Epcot offers an abundance of sensory experiences that appeal to toddlers. Let your little one be the guide and you'll be amazed at the reactions you'll see. (Oh yeah, definitely check out the Kidcot Fun Stops around World Showcase!)

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

In my opinion, the key to an amazing Walt Disney World vacation with a toddler is to follow their lead. When you see absolute joy coming on, pause and let it soak in for as long as possible. When you see fussiness coming on, move along in search of the next joyous experience. When you see exhaustion coming on, head back to the hotel for a power nap!

I hope that helps. If you'd like any other tips, feel free to send your questions my way and I'll be more than happy to share more ideas.

    Best regards,
    Derek

(P.S. - As for the 4th of July, the fireworks are always awesome...but keep your eyes peeled for special "Limited Time Magic" that day!)
