Hello! I am taking my two year old daughter to Disney for the first time in November 2012. We are arriving in Orlando at 9:30 a.m. What are the best ideas for the first and last days at Disney on those travel days when you only have half a day?

    Hi Alana,

There are so many things to do when you don't want want to use your precious Park Tickets on a "half day"!

We love to get checked in to our Disney Resort and take an hour or two to really explore it.  We visit the shops, the arcades, the restaurants, and the grounds.  Then we like to spend some time at the swimming pool.  It is often warm enough in November to swim in Florida, and the pools at the Disney Resorts are heated.  In addition, we often like to take some time to explore some of the other magnificent Disney Resorts so we can get an idea where we'd like to stay next time!

Another favorite for our family is to head to the Downtown Disney area.  Here, we enjoy various amenities such as shopping, dining, a movie theater, Disney Quest, Cirque de Soleil's La Nouba, and a special attraction called Characters in Flight, a tethered hot air balloon ride!

These days are also great ones for scheduling some special dining experiences, such as one of the spectacular Character Dining Experiences at one of the Disney Resorts, such as Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort.  These do not require Park admission.  There are also some fun dining adventures, such as the "Hoop De Do Revue" at Fort Wilderness Campground & Resort, and "The Spirit Of Aloha" at the Polynesian Resort.

You could also use these days to take advantage of the many amenities throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, such as special Resort tours, golf, putt-putt, the Water Parks - Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon, fishing, watercraft rentals, spas, and more!

Check out the Disney website for more great ideas.  If you have any more questions, we are more than happy to help you here on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel!
