Taking our 2yo for her 1st trip to DIsney in Feb. I haven't been in 20 yrs - so much is new! Am worried she will be overwhelmed and want to be able to head back to hotel for naps. How long is the commute from MK to nearest "moderate" resort?

    Hey Misty!

I have been bringing my kids to Walt Disney World since they were only five and six months old.  On our last vacation, they were almost two and four.  Taking a break from the parks each day is crucial when traveling with smaller children (I even say it's just as important when on a trip with older kids or adults!).  The two or three hours we spend outside of the parks gives us all a chance to unwind and relax from our big morning in the park.  It can definitely get over-stimulating for kids and adults!

The general rule of thumb when traveling around Walt Disney World is to allow an hour to reach your destination.  That being said, it won't always take that long to get from a theme park to your resort.  We have had trips where it has taken us as little as 30-40 minutes to reach our resort.  A lot of it depends on luck and timing of when your resort bus gets to the queue area.

I know it seems like a lot of time is cut out of your day when returning to your resort from the parks, but it really is worth it, especially if you're at the parks at opening in the morning.  You'll be surprised at just how much you get done during the early mornings and you'll be ready for a break after lunch!

Please let me know if you have any other questions, Misty!

    Have a magical day,
