    Hi Jenn!
    Happy New Year!
Sounds like 2011 is going to be a great one for your son with his first trip to Walt Disney World. You do not mention his age, but either way, I think it is a great idea to provide him with a gift card for spending. This not only gives him the ability to budget for his own purchases, but it is a great lesson in establishing responsibility. I have done something very similar in the past with my now 12 and 7 year-old girls, except we used the old Disney Dollars instead of a Disney Gift Card. Either way, it gave them ownership of really making sure they wanted a particular item, because once they reached the day's spending limit, that was it for them for that day. Again, not knowing the age of your son makes it a bit of a guess on my part, but my girls usually get about $25 per day on average for their own spending (not including food/snacks and souvenirs that my wife and I may buy). I hope this helps a bit, and regardless of the amount (higher or lower than I recommend) you decide to budget for your son, he is still benefitting from a wonderful trip of a lifetime. I wish you all a Magical vacation!! :)
