Taking my son and family (over 20 people) to Disney for his 5th birthday. Only want to go to Magic Kingdom. What are the best places and things to do to help him celebrate his special day? He definitely needs to meet Mickey. How and where do I start?

    Christina:

The Magic Kingdom creates a day your son--and the whole family--will remember. Begin planning your visit by checking out both its entertainment and attraction options at www.disneyworld.com where you'll find tips and must-dos specifically for his age. If seeing Mickey is at the top of your list, make FastPass+ reservations 30 days in advance of your visit (60 days if you're staying in a Disney hotel) to minimize your wait time at Town Square.

Birthdays in our family include entertainment, a good meal, the celebrant's favorite cake and a thoughtful gift. The park provides lots of entertainment, but if you're looking for the icing on the "birthday" cake, consider the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party where everyone can gather at the end of the day to enjoy dessert and a private viewing of the fireworks. Or book a meal at a restaurant in the park and order a custom birthday cake from the cake hotline (407-827-2253). (Keep in mind that a simple birthday "meet-up" for Mickey ice cream bars or make-your-own ice cream sandwiches at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor can be just as memorable.) And don't forget Mickey ears from The Chapeau or a shopping trip down Main Street or Mickey's Star Traders for that special gift.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
