    Ashlee from NV Asked

Hello. We are taking our son to Disneyland for his 3rd birthday. He turns 3 on our second day there. Do we need to get him a park ticket? Will we be questioned if he has a birthday button with “3” on it and no ticket? Thank you!

Greetings, Ashlee! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. It is always so exciting to celebrate a birthday at the Happiest Place on Earth. Just imagining all the wonderful memories you will make as a family has me smiling from ear to ear!

If you have booked a vacation package that includes theme park tickets and hotel accommodations at either a Disneyland Resort Hotel or a Good Neighbor Hotel, then your little one is considered the age at check-in for the duration of your trip. In your case, since your son would be 2 years old when you arrive, he would be considered a Guest of Mickey for your entire stay and would not need a theme park ticket if you have booked a package. If you have purchased or will purchase your theme park tickets separately, then your child will require a ticket on the day he turns 3 years old and on all subsequent days. The distinction comes from the fact that children’s ages are provided when you book a package, but not when theme park tickets are purchased separately.

In addition to his very own, complimentary birthday pin, you might also consider purchasing a special pair of Mickey ears to commemorate the occasion. They sell special birthday Mickey ears at many merchandise locations or a variety of other styles that your son might like. For a nominal extra charge, you can get the ears embroidered with his name on the back for the extra magical touch. My favorite places to purchase Mickey ears are either of The Mad Hatter locations in Disneyland Park or World of Disney in the Downtown Disney District.

I hope your son has an absolutely fabulous birthday at the Disneyland Resort!
