We are taking our one year old for his birthday to Magic Kingdom on a ONE day pass; he LOVES animals so were thinking about doing park hopper with Animal Kingdom from 9-12 (then nap time), then going to Magic Kingdom. Is there enough time for both?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Stephanie!

There is no better place to celebrate a 1st birthday than Disney! I'll give you some of my thoughts on this as a Mom who's been there - done that & then you can decide what you think is best for your family.

Magic Kingdom (MK) & Animal Kingdom (AK) are both awesome parks. If your son loves animals, AK is a great park for him. Kilimanjaro Safaris is incredible. You can see a lot of animals throughout the park's exhibits & trails. Affection Section offers a hands on petting adventure. There are great character meet & greets and the shows are fabulous even for little ones.

You would be very hard pressed to see MK in 1 full day. There are so many great attractions, shows, characters & parades that your 1 year old will enjoy. MK is always my top recommendation for families with little ones & I usually recommend 2 full days at this park depending on the season.

Also consider the cost involved in adding the Park Hopper to a 1 day ticket. Will it be worth the added expense especially since you'll be taking time out for a nap.

Take into consideration how long both of the parks are open on the day you plan to visit. Obviously the longer the better. If you are staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel & they are offering Extra Magic Hours at AK and MK, that would also give you more time.

Now think about your little one. Will this be too much in one day for him? Theme parks are great fun but the stimulation, being off schedule & long hours can wear you out.

I've always been very anxious for my boys to see it all & pack in as much as possible but one thing I've learned is that sometimes you've got to choose what's most important for this trip & plan another one in the future.

Please feel free to visit with all of your questions. We're hEAR to help!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
