We are going to be taking my 18 month old daughter to WDW for the first time in August. Is there a list of rides/activities that are recommended for her age group/size?

    Hi Eliza!

My wife and I have taken our children to Walt Disney World at least once a year and we started taking them when they were babies; both visited before turning 1.  Disney makes it very easy to travel with very young children.  There are baby care centers in each of the parks.  There are also changing places in all of the restrooms.  My wife and I carried our babies on a lot of the attractions and stayed together.  For the few attractions where that was impossible, we utilized "child swap" to allow each of us to experience the attraction with minimum wait.

You will be able to take your daughter on most of the attractions at Walt Disney World.  I know that may sound strange if your only experience is with regional amusement parks, but it is true.  Most of Walt Disney World was designed with the entire family in mind.  That said, however, most young children especially enjoy the Magic Kingdom, specifically Fantasyland.  Most guests with young children easily spend multiple days in the Magic Kingdom.  However, all of the parks have something to offer so you should definitely visit all four if you have the time.

A few pointers based on our experience:  go slow and enjoy the experience of visiting with a young child instead of running from attraction to attraction; take your own stroller because your child will be familiar with it; consider staying at a monorail resort or renting a car to allow you to return to your hotel quickly to take a nap, rest, etc; consider a character meal, but don't rush character interactions until you see how your child responds.  The most important thing of all is to just have fun!  It is impossible to do everything at Walt Disney World in a single trip, or even multiple trips, so just relax and go slow.
