I am taking my 4 kids for the 1st time to Disney World. I have a 15,13, & two 8 years old. Two of my children are in the autism spectrum. Do you have any sugestions on rides, shows, and restaurants inside Magic Kingdom that would help me plan the day?

    Hi Rosa,

Welcome! I'm so excited for your family's first visit to the place where The Magic is Endless!

I recommend arriving at Magic Kingdom Park when it first opens. Please stop by Guest Relations to get the Disability Access Service (DAS) for your kids. These are issued to Guests with a wide variety of special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. For an in-depth explanation about how it might help, please read the Disney Parks Disability Access Service Card Fact Sheet. Also keep in mind you may use the DAS in conjunction with FastPass+.

Not knowing the specifics of your children's aversions and/or fears to noise, sensory or visual stimuli, it's difficult to assess what rides and entertainment options might work best for your family. For example, if a child doesn't like to get wet then it's best to stay away from Splash Mountain. Are your children claustrophobic or afraid of the dark? Some inside waiting areas at the Haunted Mansion might trigger anxiety. Do bypass Astro Orbiter if there is a fear of heights. As a general rule however, I would suggest ALL the attractions at Magic Kingdom Park. My son's favorites are Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and "it's a small world", though last year he finally conquered Space Mountain.

As far as restaurant recommendations go, avoid small confined crowded places like The Plaza Restaurant. Try to book reservations for The Crystal Palace or Be Our Guest Restaurant instead.
