I am taking my husband to Disney World for the first time in October of 2016. When can I make reservations for our vacation since it's over a year away? Also can I make the reservations and make payments or do I have to pay it all at once when I book it?

    Hi Kasey,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  We're so happy you stopped by with your question today.

How exciting to be planning your husband's first visit to Walt Disney World!  I totally understand wanting to get started with your planning as soon as possible.  Happily, you'll be able to do that very soon!  Guests can make room-only reservations up to 499 days in advance by calling the reservation line at (407) W-DISNEY (934-7639).  You'll need to pay for one night's stay as your deposit, based on current rates. When the 2016 rates are released, you will then owe the difference on that one night's stay, plus the balance for the remainder of your trip.  With a room-only reservation, you pay off your balance when you arrive at your Disney Resort hotel.

I'm not sure of the exact date when 2016 rates will be released, but usually that happens in July or early August.  When the room rates are released, the package rates and details will also be available, and you'll be able to view all the details (and make reservations) online.  If you already have a room-only reservation at that point, you'll be able to call back to convert that to a package that includes any extras you want, like theme park tickets, Memory Maker and the Disney Dining Plan.  With a vacation package, the usual deposit required is $200, with the balance due 45 days before your arrival date.

Wishing you pixie-dusted vacation planning, Kasey!  Please visit us here again if we can help answer any other questions.

    Have a magical day!
