I will be taking my grandchildren on a cruise next year in celebration of my turning 80. Are there any age/height restrictions on the water activities. My grandchildren will be 5 and 8. Yes, I got a late start at this grandparent activity.

    Welcome aboard, Marilyn!

My family and I have sailed many times with Disney Cruise Line, but some of our favorite cruises have been with extended family, including grandparents. Not only will this be a magical adventure for your grandchildren, but for you as well!

You didn't mention which of the four Disney ships you'll be enjoying for your cruise next year, so I'll give you a little bit of information about the water activities up on the pool deck for each of them. The AquaDuck is the super popular watercoaster onboard the Dream and the Fantasy. My kids cannot get enough of this ride! There is not an age restriction about riding (although guests under age seven must have an adult with them), but they do enforce a height restriction of 42" or taller. Those guests who are 54" or taller may opt to either ride alone or with another guest.

The Disney Magic features a thrilling drop on the AquaDunk. You'll climb into a capsule where Donald Duck's nephews count down: 3, 2, 1! The floor drops out sending you spiraling into the slide. It's a blast! Guests must be at least 48" tall to ride this.

The Twist n' Spout water slide on the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are super fun slides for guests 38" or taller. These are in the wet and wild AquaLab area which is fun for all guests!

Finally, over on the Dream and Fantasy, you'll find the Mickey's Pool Slide for guests ages four to 14 and between 38" and 64".

Surely your grandkids will have a splash-tacular time on their cruise with you, Marilyn! Have fun planning!
