Tweens planning

Hi I am taking my 2 girls 11 and 13 to WDW. What do I do if one wants to go on a ride and the other one doesn't? I don't want to leave one or always make the older one go by herself on everything if my younger one doesn't want to go?

    Welcome BACK, Ashley!

Walt Disney's vision for his theme parks was that they were to be built for families, including those with MousekeTweens. Unlike other amusement parks, there are only a handful of Walt Disney World Resort attractions that are intense thrill rides. In fact there are only two attractions that I actively skip.

This is a tricky one because if you stay behind or ride with one, then the other is alone. I absolutely respect your mom-decision for wanting to be fair to both girls so one doesn't feel like she's on her own more often than the other. However, your two options are to try to minimize the alone time as much as possible, or to map out all of the attractions everyone wants to do before your visit and completely skip the ones where you all will have to separate.

Generally speaking, most vehicle loading areas are in a different location than their unloading areas. You can certainly ask the Cast Member at the entrance of each attraction queue if it would be okay for all three of you to wait in that line together only to have the non-rider(s) step-through the boarding area and wait at the attraction's exit. This would minimize the time either daughter would have to spend by them self to only the duration of the attraction. However, do note that this can't always be guaranteed, as not every location has a "cut through" spot like this.

In the times when you do need to leave one and stay with the other, most attractions end in store or near a dining location. Those are great waiting spots for the one who stayed behind, and an easy meet-up location for the one who did ride. I know you'll all have fun no matter what y'all decide!

We'll See You Real Soon, Ashley!
