We are taking our first trip to WDW this year with a 4 & 2yr old. I read that the costumed characters (Mickey, Donald, etc) do not talk. Any suggestions as to what I can tell the kids about why Mickey cant talk to them?Thank you for all your advice so

    Hi AnnMarie,

Wow! I never really thought about this. I have been to Disney with my daughters, nieces and nephews and never did they ask me why a character could not talk. However, yours might so I asked some experts-my 14 and 16 year old daughters.

First, they thought no child would ask, they would just accept that it is what it is. However, if they did ask, they suggested the following :

For Mickey, Donald and other "animals", they are animals and they only can talk in movies or TV.

For Buzz or Woody, they are toys and we are around so they can not talk to us now. They are posing.

For Mike or Sully from Monsters, Inc., we are humans and they are afraid of us.

I hope this helps and I wish you the most magical of vacations!
